Zarvani Spice-Forts

Zarvand's fortified posts on the River Nhal, from which its caravans buy pepper and spice and cut into the jungle. Chelpan of the river villages remembers when they paid fairly and preferred it. From the 1030s the spice caravans began losing men on the Nhal, and in 1074 Tzalan warriors sacked one of the forts, after which Zarvand pushed more garrisons into the Deep. Their men die of the jungle fever, and serpent-monkeys raid their spice camps.
