The Rampart Ditch

The ditch country along the outside of the Long Rampart, in its shadow, farmed by the Rampart Squatters, about ten thousand strong and growing: deserters, discharged conscripts, Nintang half-bloods, tribute-caravan drovers and their children. They trade through the wall's gates and are the only people who deal with both the Rampart and the Horde. General Dezau uses them as scouts and denies it; Grand Chancellor Makok has ordered them cleared three times. If they are ever cleared, they may go over to the Tolmar.
